Applicants to ITT courses commencing after April 2020 will no longer need to undertake Professional Skills Tests.

All applicants are required to demonstrate fundamental skills in English and Maths. These will be assessed by LETTA following a successful interview.

Medical fitness

We apply the Fitness to Teach requirement to all candidates and you must complete a health questionnaire for scrutiny by an authorised body on behalf of LETTA.

If you have a disability, or think that you might need adjustments in order to satisfy the fitness to teach requirement, and you would like more information, please contact us.

Clearance from Disclosure and Barring Service

We have a duty to protect children and vulnerable adults. If you are offered a place on the LETTA programme, you will be asked to apply for an enhanced DBS check as a requirement of entry to the course, along with other statutory safeguarding procedures. This disclosure will contain details of any cautions, convictions, reprimands, warnings or bindovers recorded against your name. It will allow us to make an assessment of your suitability for access to these vulnerable groups. If you have any queries regarding this process, please contact us.

Completing the application form

When completing your application, please read the school and LETTA information provided and consider how your personal statement takes account of this. The DfE Get Into Teaching website contains very useful information to support you with this process.

Schools will be interested in your ability to communicate clearly and effectively, to be well organised, to be receptive, and to work as part of a team. LETTA will assess your potential to meet the Teachers' Standards as part of the selection process.

You should have an interest in working with young people and be able to share your enthusiasm for your own learning and the learning of others. Previous experience of working with children and young people in school or other contexts is a considerable advantage. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 days experience in a UK state school before interview.

European and other international applicants are welcome.
